MAY’S BOOK CLUB PICK —— I AM WATCHING YOU

This month’s book club pick — I Am Watching You but Teresa Driscoll —is a book I’ve read and re-read because its been so long since I last read it. It’s not a book I would say “super good”, but I still want to share it with you guys because of some unique characteristics the book had. 

It’s actually a very basic story, Ella saw two fresh-out-of-prison guys flirt with girls, she wanted to warn them but something stops her. That something was ridiculously… ridiculous. You guys should read it for yourselves, it’s probably something to make Ella very guilty and haunted afterwards. 

I am not going to tell you the exciting bits , but just so you know Ella’s son lost something when he tried getting after the abductor. The abductor was not surprising, I can guess it halfway through the book. Let’s see if you are a better detective than me🤪. The ending was realistic, I tend to like books with a more true ending, more logical, not all happy. But I think you could still call that a happy ending because the goal has been achieved and everyone is happy. Or not so happy 😉, again, read for yourself!

The only thing I don’t like so much is that the story focuses a bit too much on Ella’s personal family, maybe some less will be enough, just for fun. After all, it is not the main idea/content of the book and it may be annoying to read her family personal experience so often. But it is not a too huge problem. I think it is tolerable. 

The second thing I like about this book is the development of characters, you could really feel the characters being more mature, at first they were kinda ‘inexperienced’? I am not sure about the word for it. Just pretty immature and not acting like a grown person. Anyway, Teresa did a great job of developing the characters. Characters are a important part of a story, i enjoyed a lot of books story, but not their characters. But I really enjoyed I Am Watching You’s characters. Good job, Teresa!!
